Tamara C. Murray

Tamara C. Murray has a long history in the legal field, beginning in 1982 when she first responded to an advertisement seeking a legal secretary (the attorney missed the first interview – he was taking a nap). Within a few years Tamara obtained her paralegal certification from the University of California, Santa Barbara. As a paralegal, Tamara worked for both solo practitioners and firms with a family law emphasis.

In 1997 Tamara immigrated from her hometown on the Central Coast of California to Washington. Since planting her roots in Spokane in 1999, Tamara optimistically considers herself “almost a local” and routinely indulges in PNW addictions such as hiking, biking, standing on suspension bridges to gawk at the river, playing guitar (badly), yoga and catching live local music every chance she gets.

While working in a downtown Spokane firm as a paralegal in the Family Law and Litigation groups, Tamara returned to college and obtained her undergraduate degree cum laude from Whitworth University.  While continuing to intern at the same firm, Tamara applied to her one and only choice, Gonzaga Law School, where she obtained her Juris doctorate degree in 2007. (Go Zags!)

Tamara worked as a volunteer intern at the Spokane County Prosecutor’s Office in the Juvenile Unit while waiting for her bar results. After receiving her license, Tamara worked on a part-time contract basis in the prosecutor’s juvenile and felony property crimes unit while launching her private practice. Tamara purposely focused her practice on family law from the beginning and recently added simple Wills and probate to her practice.

As a Whitworth and Gonzaga graduate Tamara is committed to public service volunteering at clinics, keeping two active pro bono clients in her caseload at all times, and serves on a number of committees and law sections

Academic Accomplishments: Graduated cum laude from Whitworth University (Laureate Society Member). While at Gonzaga Law School, received the CALI (formerly AmJur) Award in Legal Research & Writing.
